The interface modules of the Cisco ASR 900 Series are crafted to accommodate various services, speeds, temperature ranges, and capabilities. They offer an economical solution for delivering converged circuit emulation, optical transport network, and business Ethernet services.
The Cisco ASR 900 Series 2-Port 10GE XFP/SFP+ Module (A900-IMA2Z) offers two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, each supporting either a pluggable 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ optic or a pluggable 10 Gigabit Ethernet XFP optic. These ports provide physical connectivity for high-speed data transmission. Additionally, the module supports both LAN and WAN PHY, enabling flexible deployment options to suit various networking needs.
The Cisco ASR 900 Series Ethernet interface modules are engineered to offer customers exceptional flexibility and value. Each module shares a common core that facilitates precise time stamping for Y.1731 Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) delay measurement functions, ensuring accurate results for both one-way and two-way delay measurement. Additionally, these modules support time-stamping functions for the IEEE 1588-2008 protocol, enhancing the performance of ASR 900 Series systems in deploying IEEE 1588-2008 protocols for frequency and phase synchronization.
While not all customers may choose to implement IEEE 1588-2008 for synchronization, the Ethernet interface modules also support input and output frequency synchronization through Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE), providing alternative synchronization options.
Furthermore, all ASR 900 Series Ethernet interface modules are equipped with Online Insertion and Removal (OIR) support, contributing to higher uptime for ASR 900 Series systems.
