The Secure Firewall 4200 chassis features two network module slots, NM-2 and NM-3, located on the front panel. These optional, removable I/O modules allow for additional ports or varied interface types. For example, the FPR4K-XNM-2X100G supports 40/100-Gb operation, offering two QSFP/QSFP28 ports that deliver full-duplex Ethernet traffic with a maximum bandwidth of 200 Gb.
Each 100-Gb port can be divided into four 10-Gb or 25-Gb ports using compatible breakout cables, resulting in a total of eight interfaces. Note that while hot swapping is supported for identical modules, a chassis reboot is necessary when replacing a 100-Gb module with a different type.
