The Secure Firewall 4200 chassis features two network module slots labeled NM-2 and NM-3 (from left to right on the front panel). These slots accommodate optional, removable I/O modules that offer additional ports or varied interface types. The network modules are installed on the front panel of the chassis. The FPR4K-XNM-4X40G module enables 40-Gbps operation, supporting full-duplex Ethernet per port. It is equipped with four QSFP+ ports, arranged left to right as Ethernet 2/1 or 3/1 through Ethernet 2/4 or 3/4.
Each of the four 40-Gb ports can be divided into four 10-Gb ports using compatible breakout cables (refer to Supported SFP/SFP+/QSFP+ Transceivers for cable options). With this four-port 40-Gb network module, you gain a total of 16 individual 10-Gb interfaces. These added interfaces are labeled as Ethernet 2/1/1 or 3/1/1 through Ethernet 2/4/4 or 3/4/4, providing increased port versatility and configuration flexibility.
