The Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series modular switches (C9200) support four optional network modules for uplink ports on all models. These network modules are field-replaceable and provide line-rate performance on every port, supporting all software features available on the switch downlink ports. The modules are automatically powered upon insertion, are OIR (Online Insertion and Removal) capable, and ACT2 authenticated. They support 10G single-flow traffic processing with auto-negotiated speeds depending on the optics inserted.
The available network modules for the Catalyst 9200 Series modular models are:
- C9200-NM-2Y: 2 x 25G network module
- C9200-NM-2Q: 2 x 40G network module
- C9200-NM-4G: 4 x 1G network module
- C9200-NM-4X: 4 x 1G/10G network module
- C9200-NM-BLANK: No network module (blank module)
These modules provide infrastructure investment protection by allowing nondisruptive migration from 1G to 10G and beyond. The default switch configuration does not include the network modules; they are optional and can be added as needed.
Additionally, all ports on the network modules operate at line rate, and the modules support automatic power-up and hot-swapping capabilities.
