Cisco Secure Firewall 4200 Interface Modules

The Cisco Secure Firewall 4200 Series supports two hot-swappable network module slots (NM-2 and NM-3) that allow for additional interface support and customization. These interface modules provide flexibility and future-proofing for connectivity needs, including support for 1/10/40/100G interfaces and up to 400G interfaces with the new 2-port 400 Gigabit Network Module introduced in release 7.6. Key points about the Secure Firewall 4200 interface modules:
  • The 4200 Series has two network module bays for additional interface support.
  • Supported network modules include:
    • 2-port 200G/400G QSFP-DD network module (FPR4K-XNM-2X400G)
    • 4-port 200G QSFP+ network module (FPR4K-XNM-4X200G)
    • 8-port 1/10-Gb SFP+ network module (FPR4K-XNM-8X10G)
    • 8-port 1/10/25-Gb ZSFP network module (FPR4K-XNM-8X25G)
    • 4-port 40-Gb QSFP+ network module (FPR4K-XNM-4X40G)
    • 2-port 100-Gb QSFP+ network module (FPR4K-XNM-2X100G)
    • Various hardware bypass network modules with 1G, 10G, and 25G ports
  • Hardware bypass functionality is supported on the Secure Firewall 4200 for supported network modules starting from software version 7.4.0.
  • Hot-swapping of identical network modules is supported; replacing a network module with a different type requires a system reboot.
  • The 2-port 400G network module supports 40/100/200/400G full-duplex operation per port and is designed for high-performance, large-scale deployments.
  • The network modules are located on the front panel of the chassis, alongside fixed 1/10/25-Gbps SFP28 fiber ports.
This modular design allows organizations to tailor the Secure Firewall 4200 to their specific network requirements, scaling interface speeds and types as needed while maintaining high availability and performance.
