Cisco Firepower 9300 Modules provide the processing power and network connectivity required to build high-performance, scalable security appliances. Designed for the Cisco Firepower 9300 Series platform, these modular components enable organisations to tailor firewall performance and interface density to evolving business and data centre requirements. Hot-swappable hardware simplifies maintenance, reduces downtime and allows capacity to be expanded without replacing the entire chassis.
Security Modules
The Firepower 9300 chassis supports up to three hot-swappable security modules, allowing flexible deployment and future growth. Available models include the SM-40, SM-48 and SM-56, delivering 40, 48 and 56 physical CPU cores respectively. The SM-40 and SM-48 are NEBS-ready for carrier-grade environments.
Each security module includes 384 GB DDR4 memory, dual 1.6 TB SSDs configured in RAID 1 for resilience, and an integrated enhanced security acceleration module to optimise threat inspection performance. From FXOS 2.6.1 onwards, different security module types can operate together within the same chassis, providing greater deployment flexibility while maintaining software compatibility.
Network Modules
The integrated supervisor provides two network module slots supporting a wide range of interface options for enterprise and service provider networks. Available modules include:
- 8-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+
- 4-port 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP+
- 4-port 100 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP28
- 2-port 100 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP28 (double-width)
- 6-port 10 Gbps SR Fibre Fail-to-Wire
- 6-port 10 Gbps LR Fibre Fail-to-Wire
- 2-port 40 Gbps SR Fail-to-Wire
These modules enable flexible connectivity, high-bandwidth throughput and resilient network designs, making the Cisco Firepower 9300 an ideal platform for demanding enterprise, cloud and service provider security deployments.
