The Cisco Catalyst 8000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN/WAN Modules deliver high-density connectivity through Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP+ and SFP) and copper (RJ-45) interfaces. They support 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, and 10 Gbps Ethernet speeds and are designed for use with the Catalyst 8300 and 8200 Series Edge Platforms.
The C-NIM-8T is a LAN/WAN module equipped with eight RJ-45 copper ports. It is intended as a replacement for the ISR 4000 Series NIM-ES2 switch module family, providing full Layer 2 feature parity along with additional Layer 2 enhancements. The module supports 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T Ethernet, making it a cost-effective 8-port LAN switch solution. Like the C-NIM-4X and C-NIM-8M modules, the two highest-numbered ports can be configured as native Layer 3 ports, offering full feature parity with the router’s embedded WAN interfaces. The C-NIM-8T also supports IEEE 802.1AE MACsec to enhance network security.
