Cisco Part Number: A9K-24X10GE-1G-SE is a Cisco ASR 9000 24-port dual-rate 10G/1G service edge–optimized line card

The line cards of the Cisco ASR 9000 Series, available in 24-port and 48-port configurations, offer unparalleled density and performance in both 10 Gigabit and 1 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Engineered to slot seamlessly into the Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Router, these high-capacity line cards are engineered to alleviate bandwidth constraints in networks grappling with surging Video-on-Demand (VoD), IPTV, point-to-point video, Internet video, and cloud services traffic, all while maintaining an exceptionally low power footprint.

In a fully populated ASR 9922 chassis, the 48-port line card alone furnishes an impressive 960 ports of either 10 Gigabit Ethernet or 1 Gigabit Ethernet, making it a prime solution for networks prioritizing density, performance, and low-latency functionality. While designed for throughputs of 200G and 400G for the 24-port (A9K-24X10GE-1G-SE) and 48-port cards, respectively, they can operate in oversubscription mode, reaching up to 240G for the former and 480G for the latter. In scenarios of oversubscription, packets are gracefully redistributed across all ports to maintain efficient operation. Each port on the line card can be configured uniformly as either 10G or 1G, with additional support for select mixed 1G and 10G configurations, offering enhanced flexibility.

The physical interfaces of these line cards support both Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) and Enhanced SFP (SFP+) optics, catering to various long- and short-haul applications. This versatility enables seamless migration and support for diverse deployment scenarios necessitating different media types and interface modes. With such capabilities, the ASR 9000 Series line cards and routers serve as the cornerstone for scalable Carrier Ethernet and IP/Multiprotocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS) networks, fostering the growth of profitable business, residential, and mobile services.

The ASR 9000 A9K-24X10GE-1G-SE line cards, fully compatible with all ASR 9000 Series modular chassis. Powered by the reliable Cisco IOS XR Software OS, these line cards establish a new benchmark for Layer 2 and Layer 3 10GE/1GE service density, catering to large-scale aggregation, Data Center Interconnect (DCI), and Satellite Network Virtualization (nV) System mode on the ASR 9000 Series Router. Their adaptability allows operators to standardize on a single line card type, deployable across Layer 2, Layer 3, DCI, or aggregation scenarios, leading to reduced Capital Expenditures (CapEx) and Operating Expenses (OpEx), as well as streamlining the development and deployment of new services.

The service edge–optimized line cards are designed for customer deployments requiring enhanced Quality of Service (QoS).
