Cisco Part Number: N9K-X9636Q-R is a Cisco Nexus 36-port 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP line card line card
The Cisco Nexus 9500 R-Series switching platform features two modular chassis:
These chassis accommodate Cisco Nexus 9500 R-Series line cards and fabric modules, providing up to 9.6 Terabits per second (Tbps) per slot, totaling 76.8-Tbps in the 8-slot chassis. Both chassis support line cards with 100-, 40-, 25-, 10-, or 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports. Additionally, the 8-slot chassis supports a line card with 400-Gigabit Ethernet ports.
The Cisco Nexus 9500 platform functions as a Clos fabric, directly linking each line card with rear-mounted fabric modules. Load balancing across all fabric modules ensures optimal bandwidth distribution, enhancing system reliability. In case of fabric module loss, the switch remains operational, albeit at reduced capacity, thanks to remaining modules. Some line cards can connect to 1 or 2 extra fabric modules, offering N+1 or N+2 redundancy. All Cisco Nexus 9500 R-Series line cards including N9K-X9636Q-R feature deep buffers, and certain ones support large tables, accommodating diverse use cases.
